Do I have to be Lutheran to come to your clinic?
No. People of all faiths are welcome. Lutheran Counseling Center is a preferred vendor of the Minnesota South District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and a Recognized Service Organization (RSO) at the synodical level of LCMS. Many of our staff are Lutheran, but you do not have to be.
Will my visits at Lutheran Counseling Center be kept confidential?
As a professional Christian mental health clinic, LCC maintains the highest levels of confidentiality according to the new State and Federal Health Insurance Portabilibty and Accountability Act (HIPAA). All interactions, conversations and records are kept in the strictest confidence. All client records are kept in a locked facility and may only be viewed with prior authorization of the client.
Which insurance companies cover your clinic?
Most insurance companies cover visits with LCC counselors and LCC is in the network for Medica, Blue Cross and HealthPartners to name just a few. To verify if your insurance company will cover you, call the Customer Service number on the back of your insurance card. You need to ask them what your "out-patient mental health" benefits are. They will either tell you that you have a deductible and/or a co-pay after the deductible has been met, or they will tell you that you have no out-patient mental health coverage.
What if I do not have insurance?
If you do not have insurance coverage or we cannot use your insurance, a sliding fee is available. This fee is based on your annual household income.
What is the sliding fee?
Sliding Fee Scale based on gross household income:
| Income | Initial Session / Each Following Session |

When do I have to pay for my appointments?
We would like you to pay for all appointments at the beginning of your session.
Which credit cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
How do I make an appointment?
Call the Center directly at (952) 894-4828 (or 1-800-466-0401 toll free if calling from outside the Twin Cities).
You will receive a recorded message and may either:
- speak directly to a receptionist during normal business hours,
- leave a message for a specific counselor, or
- leave a general message with the receptionist.
Please be aware that LCC is neither able to discuss nor confirm appointments over the phone except directly with the actual client. You will need to personally make all appointments or scheduling changes yourself. Due to governmental regulations regarding confidentiality, LCC can neither confirm nor deny the identity of any client over the phone.
Need I do anything before my first appointment?
Just the standard procedures to meet with any health care professional. If you have insurance coverage, before your first appointment please:
- Locate your insurance card or cards. Some insurance may be either primary or secondary. If a secondary insurance provider is involved, you will need the insurance card from each provider.
- Read the back of the card(s) and comply with your insurance providers requirements.
- Call your insurance provider at the number on the card and verify your benefits and ask if there are any co-pays you may have to make. Also verify that mental health care is covered.
- Ask if pre-certification is required by the provider and ask them for it if it is.
- Bring all insurance cards with you. A copy of both sides is required for LCC to process insurance for you.
When you arrive for your appointment, please be prepared to make any payments or co-pays at the beginning of your session.
