A Message from the Executive Director
I've
been at Lutheran Counseling Center (LCC) four years now. Yet I continue
to be in awe at the amazing things we do here – inspiring things.
- I’ve watched a bleary eyed man grieving the death of a loved one come to our clinic. When he left the clinic, he seemed to be standing just a bit taller.
- I’ve watched a single mom walk from the parking lot into a counseling office. With her was a young child who screamed and pulled at her the whole time. She left with a little more skill to handle the child and a little more courage to take on the week.
- I’ve watched a middle-aged man sitting hunched over in a chair in the waiting room wondering if he would ever get work again. I didn’t see him leave, but I’d like to think he went with a little hope and the understanding that everything isn’t out of control; God’s in control.
- I’ve watched a young man and a young woman come into the clinic together. They both wore wedding rings. They kept, I thought, very quiet with as much distance between them as the clinic would allow. They didn’t speak. On the way out, he opened the door for her. She smiled at him.
- I have heard our clients praise our therapists more times than I can count.
I am thankful to God for His continuing work through our therapists. I am thankful that a place like LCC exists; a place where people can experience a bit of God’s grace. A place they can come to for help; a place families can come for help. And I’m thankful for our donors. They have played a significant role in helping others by making LCC possible. They have headed God’s command.
Since its inception, LCC has helped thousands of Minnesotans live better lives. That number is multiplied when you count the number of family and friends whose lives were improved by those experiencing better mental health. In a typical month over100 people are receiving Christian mental health care at LCC. That's well over100 people a month receiving relief from grief, anxiety, depression and suffering. However, that’s just scratching the surface compared to the need. There are so many more hurting people we could help if we just had the resources – human and financial.
Unlike most mental health clinics, LCC tries to not turn away those in need who may not be able to pay the typical rates at other clinics. Many other clinics charge $160.00 per hour and up. At LCC we can process most insurance. For those without insurance, we provide counseling for a fee based on income and what the client an afford. But that also means our revenue for counseling is lower than most other clinics. LCC strives to accept any hurting person regardless of their financial resources, origin, culture or religion. We take our lead from Christ.
According to Matthew 25, when the Son of Man comes in his glory, He will separate the people of all nations and place the righteous, those who saw His need and responded, on his right.
40 ”The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’"
Our ability to provide quality Christian mental health care to the hurting is greatly dependant upon the donations we receive. There are so many hurting people that need our help. Please help us to continue and grow the valuable work at LCC. Help us to continue helping others. Please pray for us to be able to continue our mission. We believe that is God’s will. And please demonstrate your support for our ministry by sending us a financial gift. Help bless others as you have been blessed.
You can send a check or donate with your Visa, MasterCard or Discovery card by mail or fax to the LCC Burnsville office using the donation form. If you prefer to donate by phone, or would like to explore other ways you can help, please contact John Chorba, Executive Director at (952) 894-4828 extension 111. In Christ,
